Yokohama City Private Sector visits Cebu

The City of Yokohama, in partnership with Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) arranged a learning visit for the 21 representatives from the business sector of Yokohama City to several sites in Metro Cebu last March 8, 2018.

The learning visit of the delegates served as a situationer on what Cebu has in terms of energy management, smart solid waste management, and green building initiatives. They first visited Ayala Center Cebu where Engr. Psalm Ting, Facilities Engineer of Ayala Center Cebu, showed them the energy-saving initiatives of the establishment. Before proceeding to the next venue, the delegates paid a visit to the Cebu City Hall.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Mr. Toru Hashimoto, Director of the International Affairs of Yokohama City, Japan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to signify the partnership between Cebu City and Yokohama City where the latter will offer technical assistance for city developments projects.
The next visit was to the waste dumpsite in Barangay Umapad in Mandaue City where they witnessed the solid waste management situation of the city. Lastly, they visited the corporate office of Cebu Holdings Center to learn about the green building initiative the company already has initiated and are planning for the future.

The visit was encapsulated by a forum on Y-Port Solutions and Strategies for Metro Cebu held at the Plenary Hall of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. – Eduardo Aboitiz Development and Studies Center (RAFI-EADSC) last April 9 organized by MCDCB through its Research, Program and Organizational Development Program Management Office (RPOD PMO).
