Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry brought a closure to Cebu Business Month 2016 with a digitally-transformed stage during the Grand Chamber Awards and Fellowship Night at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu.
Men, clad in business suits, were the usual sights. Women, on the other hand, wore designer gowns and dresses fit for the occasion. The dress code was formal metallic-looking dress and suits but I only saw a handful of attendees wearing the required outfit for that special occasion.
But the main highlight of the Cebu Business Month 2016 culmination event is the awarding of exemplary entrepreneurs who have made remarkable feats and contribution to the business society and local economy.
Social entrepreneur, Anya Lim, coveted the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Her work as the Creative and Managing Director of ANTHILL Fabric Gallery has been instrumental in the promotion of weaving products in the Philippines.

Countryside Entrepreneur of the Year Awardee, Wellington O. Chan Lim, has been supplying millions of poultry eggs daily to Cebu and neighboring islands. As President of Wellisa Farm Corporation, Mr. Chan Lim is also a recipient of the first ever Green-E Award from the Department of Energy.

Dr. Alvin Roxas, a medical surgeon, breaks the mold of entrepreneurship by creating a small backyard barbecue business into an expanding comfort food brand for the Cebuanos with branches in Cebu. Yakski Barbeque has become a famous barbecue destination in Metro Cebu. And that’s where people got one of the best sauces to complement the grilled specialties aside from pork.
Dr. Roxas is the recipient of Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year.

Juanito King and Sons, Inc. has bagged the category of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Institution Award. Since its inception in 1991, the Juanito King Foundations has been helping in improving the lives of thousands of Filipinos.

Luis N. Yu, Jr. is the mastermind behind Deca Homes, the popular affordable housing of the public-listed 8990 Holdings, Inc. Garnered the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Mr. Yu is the Chairman Emeritus of 8990 Holdings, Inc. and DECA Housing Corp.
