The 7 facts about Cebu Ocean Park
Cebu’s Ocean Park is located in South Road Properties (SRP) and is the first marine park in the Visayas and Mindanao. The Oceanarium was established in the hopes of bringing more tourists to visit the Queen City of the South.
In partnership with Cebu Sealife Park Inc.– the developer of Manila Ocean Park, which is the Philippines’ first-ever marine theme park, announced that Cebu Ocean Park would feature an even bigger and to date the largest Oceanarium in the country.
Cebu’s Ocean Park occupies 10,000sqm which is larger than Manila’s Ocean Park that is occupying 8,000sqm.
The oceanarium is seven-meter deep, that’s two ceres bus put together in an upright position.
In record, it was disclosed that the Cebu Ocean Park houses more than 200 species where the majority of the animals coming from marine life and creatures. The park will also showcase several species of birds, insects and reptiles.
The Main Attractions of Cebu Ocean Park
The park offers so much more than sightseeing and you’ll soon experience it for yourself when you get to enjoy their four main attractions.
Get lost in fascination with the watery depths of Cebu Ocean Park. It will undoubtedly leave you ecstatic after you come face to face with the big sharks, creatures of the deep, graceful rays and even Ningyo (人魚) which is Japanese for mermaids!
The sea tour won’t be the only thing you can find in this 1.5 hectares of adventure. You will have a fantastic trek through the jungle that can house plenty of wildlife and a diverse collection of freshwater fish and fauna.
You’ll be starting your journey inside the Jungle Trek attraction where you will discover different fauna that inhabits freshwater systems such as rivers, ponds, lakes, and streams. Colorful rays will be flying (floating) overhead, who will be waiting for you to hand-feed them later down the path.
Of course, you can’t have a complete feel of how amazing our planet’s biodiversity without a look at the Park’s Creepy Critters attraction. This part of the tour is the most crucial part of the experience because this exhibit will show the importance of usually ignored and dreaded creatures. Cebu Ocean Park hopes to raise awareness and educate the people about how important reptiles and insects are to nature.
The park will offer more events so look forward to seeing Multi-Animal Shows and witness the beauty and intelligence of talented multi-species that the entire family will surely love.
Don’t forget to go through a stunning walk through the depths featuring various marine creatures and vibrant corals inside the Seven Seas exhibit. The grandeur space and diversity of the park make it one of the world’s best aquariums.
The park boasts of ending your tour in its immersive 360-degree viewing tunnel that holds thousands of the world’s most amazing marine species.
Social Responsibility
Cebu Ocean Park is also an avenue to gather committed individuals who can volunteer and provide a little of their time in promoting the environmental awareness themed “I Love My Ocean Planet” program in partnership with Manila Ocean Park.
Spearheaded by Manila Ocean Park and multiple government agencies such as Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Public Service (DPS), Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR), and Department of Health (DOH). Volunteers will discover events in Cebu similar to that of the Coastal Clean-Up Drive last April 21, 2018, where a total of 28,992 kilograms of waste were collected along the Manila Bay.

The Cebu Ocean Park will also be prioritizing hiring their workforce from the locals. As Cebu City’s new Mayor Edgardo Labella appealed to the management of Cebu Ocean Park to set their eyes on the Cebuanos for their human resources.
