4k families in Mandaue receives cash aid and food assistance after floods

Cong. Lolypop Ouano Dizon distributes cash of P2.9M and food assistance to more than 4,483 flash flood victims in Butuanon River near Mandaue City.

Cong. Emmarie Lolypop Ouano Dizon distributed cash assistance to a total of 4,483 families who were victims of flash floods when the Butuanon River in Mandaue City swelled and almost overflowed due to the continuous heavy rainfall last week.

Cong. Ouano Dizon’s total cash assistance amounting to 2.9 million pesos is taken from her fund in Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation or AICS.

She said based on the validated list from the City Social Welfare Office, there were eight barangays affected by the flood such as Canduman (61 families), Casuntingan (149 families), Maguikay (63 families), Tabok (184 families), Tingub (72 families), Alang-alang (99 families), Umapad (312 families) and Paknaan (3,553 families).

Of the said number of victims, 20 houses are totally damaged, 41 partially damaged and 4,442 houses are slightly affected.

To recall flood victims had to be evacuated from their homes where portions of the said barangays were flooded by up to five feet of water.

Barangay Paknaan which has the highest number of victim-beneficiaries also received the said assistance.

Ouano Dizon expressed her gratitude to Speaker Lord Allan Velasco for contributing 1,0000 sacks (5 kilos each) of rice even for just a short notice of her request to the speaker.

“I am impressed by the willingness of Speaker Velasco in extending his assistance to the flood victims in Mandaue,” Ouano-Dizon said.

Cong Ouano Dizon added that Former Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano likewise provided the food packs for the victims.
