CAFE LAGUNA
Café Laguna takes pride in their 25 years of existence in the culinary business. The restaurant business is a labor of love of the Laguna Group of Companies’ matriarch, Julita, and late husband Ricardo Urbina. Who was inspired by her mother, Lita who nurtured her passion for cooking through years of learning and improving their dishes.

From Laguna, Ric, Lita and their children relocated to Cebu and decided to open a small carenderia, called “Mother’s Best.” The simple “turo-turo” transformed into a fully-air conditioned 10-table resto, which was then named into Café Laguna in 1991 at the Veteran’s Drive.
Cafe Laguna continues to serve their famous puto bumbong, lumpiang sariwa, pancit palabok and selected Filipino specialties. And they also share their significant part of a bigger umbrella to what is now known as the Laguna Group of Companies. Making it their passion to bringing the Filipino cuisines to the international platform.
Best of Cebu 2020: Palabok
We’ll definitely start with the Cafe Laguna Palabok that made the hearts of Cebuanos’ swoon. Cafe Laguna Palabok is oozing with umami flavors from its thick savory sauce to the generous variety of toppings that include shrimp, squid, shredded cabbage, green onions and crushed chicharon.
Cafe Laguna Palabok is ultimately a feast in your mouth waiting to happen. And of course, a squeeze of calamansi is the winning piece of the puzzle!
Chicharon Bulaklak
An appetizer widely recognized in the Philippines, the chicharon bulaklak is crispy deep-fried ruffled fat is best eaten when it just came out of the fryer! Cafe Laguna’s version of it is best eaten as a stand-alone or you can also dip it in spicy vinegar.
Beef Kare-kare
Kare-kare is indeed a Filipino classic dish. It is a curry stew complemented with a thick peanut sauce, beef shanks, and leafy greens. Pair their signature kare-kare together with their fresh bagoong, and you’ll surely gonna crave for more!
Paella
Originally, the Paella is a Spanish dish. What makes it Filipino is that the Filipino version of Paella, or Paelya, makes use of glutinous rice that Cafe Laguna makes fresh everyday, and then topped with various vegetables, seafood, chicken and boiled eggs.
Puto Bumbong
Take our word for it, avid customers of Cafe Laguna, choose to not leave the restaurant without having a delicious bite of Puto Bumbong. Puto Bumbong is a Filipino dessert usually eaten during the Christmas season but it can be eaten at any given day as long as you crave for it.
It’s made out of ube, or purple yam, and then made into a purple rice cake steamed in bamboo tubes. It’s as if a meal is never complete without it!
