(4) Buwakan ni Alejandra

A 700 square meter garden called Buwakan ni Alejandra is located right on the Cebu Transcentral Highway, about an hour’s drive from the center of Cebu City. It has about 200 different species of plant and wildlife, including many different flowering plants.

The attraction is named after Eleuterio Gentap’s mother-in-law. As a councilman in the barangay, Gentap also serves as the flower garden’s landscaper. The most widely used and spoken language in the Visayas is Cebuano, where the word “buwak” translates to “flowers.” As a result, “buwakan” refers to a flower garden.
