[Cebu City] April 26, 2022— Leading fiber broadband provider Converge company uplifts a woman-run upcycling business, Kreations Upcycle Furniture Manufacturing.
Kreations Upcycle Furniture Manufacturing is founded and owned by Akrisah D. Helig is a Rizal-based company that makes handicrafts and home furnishings out of scrap fabric and employs Rizal housewives and homemakers.
“I started Kreations selling retaso or fabric yarns. Eventually I thought of making crochet products. I tapped our community in our barangay in Antipolo City and nagturo ako sa mga mothers sa paano mag-crochet (I taught mothers in our community how to crochet). We started making bags and ano-ano pang handicrafts, out of those fabrics,” shared Akrisah, who’s fondly called by her mother-employees as ‘Akre’.

Akrisah started this as a hobby and eventually turned into a passion in helping to empower women in her community.
Kreations employs an average of 8-10 women, but also employs up to 50 women from Angono, Taytay, and other parts of Rizal. Prior to the pandemic, the upcycling firm employed up to 200 women from these areas, but owing to the health crisis, it had to cut back.
“When I started Kreations, talagang andon yung desire ko to train mga women from the community para makapagbigay ng income or sustainable na livelihood sa kanila,” said Akre.
Kreations is poised to expand now that it has received financial assistance and an internet connection from Converge through the start-up show “The Final Pitch.”
Converge’s fiber broadband, which has proven essential in the way they do business, is powering the connection in both Antipolo and Angono.
