[Cebu City] May 05, 2022— Nani Coloretti is officially the highest-ranking Filipino American in the Biden Administration and the newly appointed Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OBM).

Coloretti has been confirmed with over 57 votes and one of them is Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii.

“Nani will bring strong leadership experience and the ability to inspire the next generation of Filipino American leaders in Hawaii and across the country,” said Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii. “I am proud to call Nani a friend, and I look forward to continuing to work with her in her new role at OMB.”

The Office of Management and Budget (OBM) collaborates with federal agencies to monitor the implementation of expenditure initiatives authorized by Congress.

According to Schatz, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the largest office inside the President’s Office, “overseeing the implementation of the president’s vision across the Executive Branch. OMB also manages department and agency organization, the regulatory process, and ensures that funds appropriated by Congress are properly spent.”

President Biden had previously stated his desire to propose Coloretti to the role in November, alongside then-acting Director Shalanda Young, who is now the first Black woman to oversee the OMB.

Prior to her nomination, Nani Coloretti was the Urban Institute’s senior vice president for financial and commercial strategy. She worked for the Obama administration for over eight years, most recently as deputy secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
