The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (Rafi) finally brought back “Gabii sa Kabilin” all for the people to see. But with this return what are the reasons why Gabii Sa Kabilin 2022 is Special?
The Return of Gabii Sa Kabilin (GSK)
The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (Rafi) is finally brought this eagerly awaited event back to the streets of Cebu after two years of hosting the Gabii sa Kabilin (GSK) online. Oct. 21 starting at 6 p.m. Visitors explored Cebu’s historically significant culture up to midnight while taking part in the enjoyable activities Rafi has organized for this year’s “Gabii sa Kabilin.”
The “Padayon” theme made this GSK unique unlike any other. In spite of the numerous crises and difficulties that the Cebuano have faced over the past two years, it “highlights why the Cebuano race, spirit, and personality have continued to exist and thrive.”
It’s a very suitable theme, especially in light of the difficulties we’ve all experienced as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is why people were all anxiously awaiting the day when they can once again wander Cebu’s streets and look for like-minded people who want to take in the city’s vibrant cultural scene.

So, without further ado, here are the reasons that made Gabii sa Kabilin 2022 special:
Face-to-Face Tours
From Mandaue City to Talisay City, the GSK team has collaborated with 22 museums and historical sites. This implies that visitors had access to all the events and venues taking part in Gabii sa Kabilin 2022.
This is one method for museums, which have struggled over the last two years, to bounce back larger and better than ever. Visitors can actually experience Cebu’s heritage and culture scene with GSK’s face-to-face tours.
Virtual tours and online activities are obviously convenient, but nothing compares to entering a historically significant location and experiencing the energy of hundreds of years’ worth of history and culture all around you.
Free unlimited shuttle services
The participating museums and historical sites accept GSK ticket holders for free shuttle service to and from them. The GSK staff has planned GSK-designated buses to ensure that visitors can get where they need to go, so you don’t have to worry about hailing a cab or figuring out a jeepney’s routes.
Cultural presentations
Each participating museum or historic location has its own collection of cultural exhibits that offer in-depth details on Cebu’s past. These entertaining and engaging acts, which can range from a folk dance to a dramatic reenactment—nothing is off the table in Cebu—ensuring that visitors will have a fantastic time.
Online contests
To spice things up the GSK team decided to ignite the competitive spirit of the Cebuanos! There is always opportunity for competition in major events like the Gabii sa Kabilin 2022.
The GSK team organized a number of competitions, including the Heritage Hunt, which calls for teams to perform a series of tasks at particular museums and locations. The online vlogging and phone photography competitions are open to all ticket holders as well.
Food markets
If Cebuanos are competitive in nature then it’s got nothing against their love of food. The Gabii sa Kabilin food stalls will undoubtedly serve as a reminder of Cebu’s rich culinary heritage.
Many people forget how food can conjure up thousands of years of history in just one taste.
It goes without saying that food will be served during the six-hour event because it is an integral component of history and culture. Grab a piece of one of Cebu’s best dishes to fuel yourself and keep yourself going from beginning to end while experiencing the unique gastronomic high that only the Cebuano’s sophisticated palate can produce.
First-Hand Experience
With how the museums set-up the events you can get first-hand experience with sightseeing the sacred locations that built up the city’s culture.
Getting Up Close with Artifacts
Getting to visit the museums and other locations aren’t the only perks GSK brings to their audience. The best part of this entire event is that you get to be incredibly up close to historical artifacts, spanning from Old weaponry to the old currency of the Philippines.
Meeting Like-minded People
While indulging yourself in the rich history of Cebu, you tend to get an encounter or two with like-minded people. What makes GSK great is that you’re free to talk passionately about history without getting that awkward stare. In the spur of the moment you can meet some of the loveliest people that share the same passion.
Who knew that your passion can be the link to a new friendship. Now you got two people that’ll talk about history non-stop.
