Why do people run marathons? The most obvious reason people run is to improve their physical and emotional well-being.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is one of 170 Filipinos who ran in the New York City or NYC Marathon.
“The NYC Marathon wasn’t a race, it was an experience. A life lesson,” she remarked, adding that running a marathon is on her bucket list.
“It was running because I wanted a new challenge, a new discipline — to be healthier & to step out of my comfort zone, to see how far I can go. I knew it would take time and dedication to achieve it but I wanted to stick to that promise no matter where life or work pulled me,” she explained
She added, “Over the years, I got used to being at the service of others. And most of my decisions were driven by work or pleasing others.” But this time, she’s thrilled and content with the choice she’s making right now.
“It has enriched my life so much because it has put me in a better place, so I feel recharged & energized to be of service to others. Thank you to my family & friends who tracked me & cheered for me” Pia concludes on her Instagram post.
Jeremy Jauncey, Queen P’s fiancé, enthusiastically shared Queen P’s adventure on Instagram Stories. Supporting her along the course and even joining Pia for “the last few miles” before reporting on her successful completion.
Acknowledging her group of friends. The beauty queen made a pledge to her supporters that she would record a reel detailing her training and race-day preparation unto the finish line.
The hard-to-find alloy known as courage, discipline, and determination are what make a crown, not rhinestones. It isn’t always easy if you have a new life experience, but It’s always worth it. Take risks and live life on your own terms.
