An Inviting Odyssey into the Realm of Comics: The Virtual Philippine International Comics Festival

Comics Festival

Attention, aficionados of illustrated storytelling! The digital rendition of the acclaimed Philippine International Comics Festival (PICOF) is ready to sweep you into the vibrant world of comics. And the best part, registration is entirely free for all enthusiasts.

Stretching over two weekends

September 1-3 and 8-10, 2023, the festival unfolds its magic on Zoom. This e-gathering will showcase talents spanning borders from the Philippines to the United States, Korea, Australia, and several others in between. These eminent personalities will divulge secrets of crafting impactful graphic novels and webtoons, insights into global comic trends, and myriad nuances of comic book creation.

Initiated by Komiket!

A fervent promoter of Filipino comics, the event promises an immersion into the essence of comics. A visit to their official site reveals the heartfelt passion behind Komiket’s formation. Recognizing the scanty avenues available for comic creators in the Philippines, Komiket emerged as a beacon, not just as a distributor but also as a cultivator offering workshops and grants for budding artists.

As it marks its fourth year, PICOF stands resolute in its mission to elevate Filipino comics onto a global pedestal. Reverberating with the festival’s ethos, their official Facebook page highlights comics as both an ancient and modern form of artistic expression. The sessions promise to delve deep into the marriage of visuals and text. Unraveling the magic behind the creation of intricate comic universes.
