At the recent Hospitality and Restaurant Relations Association of Cebu, Inc. (HRRACI) General Membership Meeting, stakeholders convened to discuss the future of Philippine tourism. The event, held at Sinamay 1&2, Seda Central Bloc Cebu, Cebu IT Park, saw an enthusiastic gathering eager to explore new avenues for growth and collaboration.

Director of Tourism Coordination and Regional Operations, Judilyn S. Quiachon, delivered an inspiring keynote address, setting the tone for the day’s discussions. Quiachon shared optimistic projections for Philippine tourism, forecasting 7.7 million international visitors by 2024. She highlighted the significant economic impact of the sector, with over 27,195 tourism-related jobs created through initiatives like the Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso Job Fair. Quiachon also emphasized infrastructure developments, including road improvements and free WIFI access in key tourist destinations, aimed at enhancing visitor experiences.

Consumer Rights and Privileges of Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PWD)

Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry, Rose Mae Quinanola, offered valuable insights into the rights and privileges of senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Quinanola underscored the importance of inclusivity and accessibility within the tourism industry. She discussed the various discounts and privileges available to senior citizens aged 60 and above. As well as the need to empower persons with disabilities to access tourism establishments.
