Davao, CDO travelers stay connected with Smart Wifi

The importance of high-speed Internet connectivity in places of convergence is emphasized by the varying needs of travelers.
A number of people want to stay updated with news from all over while traveling and others choose not to interrupt their work while on the go.  There are also those who want to stay connected with their loved ones especially when away from home.
Smart Wifi addresses these needs and more by offering fast and free Internet in many of the country’s major transport hubs like airports starting July—and passengers and government transportation executives alike welcome this latest development from PLDT subsidiary and leader in mobile Smart Communications.  Smart recently reinforced its data connectivity in Davao City’s Francisco Bangoy International Airport, and Misamis Oriental’s Laguindingan Airport. Other airports across the country will also have their connectivity upgraded in the coming weeks.
Lisa Chavez, human resource executive, always likes to be in the loop on the status of her flight, the weather, and other updates relevant to traveling.

She said that the excitement of traveling for leisure also brings in a number of unpredictable and sometimes annoying developments—like delays in flights. “I always want to be ready for that,” she said.
The myriad discoveries of local tourists like Chavez, who was visiting Davao from Manila for the weekend can be instantly shared. “I can talk to my friends about the Blugre durian dessert that I ate, and I can also Instagram breathtaking views in Eden Nature Park!”

Free access to Internet in airports, she said, allows her to plan her trip while she is sitting idle in airports. “Waiting becomes less boring, too!” she said.
“Smart Wifi with high-speed Internet connectivity will give quality online time during pre-departure, for all. But it is all the more beneficial for frequent travelers like me.  I can post real-time updates of my travel through social media platforms, especially videos, in no time,” said Vincent Tom Udasco, a photographer and blogger from Cagayan de Oro City.
With Smart Wifi, working people on the go will never feel disconnected or away from their offices.
“It goes a long way if you consider that many travelers stay idle in the waiting area and in boarding gates. People traveling for business can continue working like they’ve never left their offices. Travelers seeking leisure and fun can stay in touch with their friends and share memories in an instant. With a bandwidth of up to 1 gigabit per second, Smart Wifi makes every minute of travel experiences productive and meaningful,” said Finina Tabuena-Gorres, VP, PLDT and Smart enterprise customer operations management sector.
Vanessa Villaflores, an OFW who will be leaving for Japan, said that Smart Wifi makes her feel connected to her family—like she’s still at home. “Facebook is my way of connecting with my family when I’m away. Smart Wifi complements my mobile data services, allowing me to message my loved ones and share photos and updates to them,” she said.
More than connectivity, Smart Wifi enhances passenger experiences, giving the country’s tourism sector a boost.  After all, a tourist’s impression of a country will largely be based on the first and last experience of his destination. Smart Wifi enables them to have that full digital experience for more meaningful journeys.
