According to The Philippine Star, competing for Penn State University, Catantan secured a commendable second-place finish in the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals held at Drew University in New Jersey. This achievement earned her one of the coveted seven slots in the finals slated for March 21 at the French Field House in Columbus, Ohio.

In a field of formidable contenders, the 21-year-old athlete displayed her prowess, finishing tied for the No. 2 spot. She shares the ranking with Katina Ortiz Proestakis and Sabrino Cho from the University of Pennsylvania. Despite sharing the same 7-4 record, Catantan clinched her place in the finals with an impressive performance index. Duke University’s Charlotte Keonig claimed the top spot with an 8-3 slate.

A Testament to Resilience

Catantan’s journey to the finals marks her fourth consecutive appearance on the grand stage. Overcoming adversity, including an ACL tear suffered during the Phnom Penh SEA Games last year, Catantan’s resilience and determination shine brightly.

Expressing her gratitude, Catantan credited her success to her unwavering support system. Now back in full strength, she remains steadfast in her pursuit of Olympic glory.

Looking Ahead

As Catantan continues her remarkable journey in the US NCAA, her sights are set on the Paris Olympics. It is where she aims to represent the Philippines on the world stage. With her dedication, talent, and perseverance, Catantan exemplifies the spirit of Filipino athletes striving for excellence on the global platform.
