The Samar Island Natural Park (SINP), nestled in Eastern Visayas, has garnered international recognition by being included in the Tentative List of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. A Haven of Biodiversity

Spanning an expansive 335,105 hectares, SINP stands as the epitome of natural beauty and biodiversity. It boasts the largest terrestrial protected areas in the Philippines and is renowned for its rich population of dipterocarp species. The park’s diverse ecosystem is a sanctuary for a myriad of flora and fauna, making it a vital hub for conservation efforts.

SINP is home to a plethora of species, including the critically endangered Philippine Eagle, emblematic of the park’s ecological importance. The park shelters 33 species of mammals, 215 species of birds, 51 species of reptiles, 26 species of amphibians, and over 1,000 species of plants. This rich biodiversity underscores SINP’s status as a center of plant and animal diversity. It houses numerous threatened species unique to the Eastern Visayas region.
