MMFF 2024: Celebrating 50 Years with a Bang!

MMFF 2024

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) gears up for its milestone 50th anniversary by returning to its roots in the City of Manila, where it all began in 1974. Mayor Honey Lacuna expresses Manila’s excitement to host this momentous occasion, promising a spectacular celebration befitting the festival’s golden jubilee.

Spectacular Parade of Stars

The MMFF Parade of Stars will weave through the streets of Manila, including iconic neighborhoods like Tondo, Leveriza, Quirino, and Sampaloc. By extending the parade route to densely populated areas, more people will have the opportunity to witness the grandeur of the festival firsthand.

Chairman Don Artes reveals plans to expand the MMFF’s cinema coverage from 800 to 900 theaters nationwide. This strategic move aims to reach a wider audience and maximize the festival’s impact, ensuring that Filipinos from all corners of the country can partake in the celebration.

Product Placements and Sponsorships

MMFF 2024

In a departure from previous years, MMFF 2024 will welcome product placements in film entries to help offset production costs. Additionally, limited sponsorships will be permitted, offering producers much-needed financial support in an industry where box-office success is not always guaranteed.

As part of the festivities, the MMFF will feature “Sine Singkwenta”. This initiative will showcase 50 memorable MMFF classic movies in selected local theaters nationwide for the affordable price of P50. This initiative aims to honor the rich heritage of Filipino cinema and delight audiences with timeless cinematic gems.

Highlighting the creative talents of the youth, the MMFF will feature a student short film caravan, where entries must not exceed five minutes in length. The criteria for selection prioritize artistic excellence, Filipino cultural sensibility, and global appeal in student short films. These factors ultimately lead to the recognition of the Best Student Short Film. It highlights outstanding talent and creativity in the youth.
