Filipino Burgers to Compete Globally as Philippines Joins World Burger Tour for the First Time

World Burger Tour

Burgers inspired by iconic Filipino dishes like Sisig, Adobo, and Ginataang Langka are set to compete on the global stage as the Philippines enters the Hard Rock Café’s annual burger competition, the World Burger Tour, for the first time.

These unique burger creations are the Philippines’ entries in the international competition, with the winning burgers potentially earning a spot on Hard Rock Café’s global menu.

The Sisig, Adobo, and Ginataang Langka Burgers are among the limited-time offerings at the Philippine branches of Hard Rock Café. This international dining and entertainment chain is introducing these unique Filipino-inspired options for a limited time.

Clint Brian Peck, Hard Rock Café Philippines’ Director for Operations, stated that this is the first time the Philippine branches have participated in the World Burger Tour. He explained that the Manila branch only opened in 2019, leading to the delayed involvement.

“This is a global event for Hard Rock International, so all [Hard Rock] cafés are participating to have an entry in the World Burger Tour. In the Philippines, we have entries from [Hard Rock Café in] Makati and [Hard Rock Café in] Manila,” Peck explained in an interview with and other media outlets.

Celebrating Filipino Cuisine

Filipino Food Month inspires the Philippine burger entries, grounding them in Filipino cuisine. Peck emphasized that competition rules didn’t drive the decision to feature traditional dishes like Adobo, Sisig, and Ginataang Langka. Instead, the choice stemmed from a desire to showcase the unique flavors of the Philippines to an international audience.

“We aim to showcase the Philippines’ delicacies on an international stage. The global scene is already somewhat familiar with our local dishes,” Peck noted. “We want to further introduce Filipino food to the worldwide Hard Rock Café community.”

The Hard Rock Café in Makati offers the Adobo Burger, while the Manila branch features the Sisig Burger. Both cafés also have the Ginataang Langka Burger, a vegetarian option, for diners who prefer plant-based dishes.

According to Peck, creating the burger recipes took about a month, with each entry representing a real Filipino dish rather than just a flavor profile. The café uses standard burger patty molders to craft the burgers, ensuring they maintain the classic burger shape. Each burger costs P595 and includes fries.

“We are now ready to compete. Hopefully, one of our burgers will be chosen to compete internationally,” Peck added, expressing hope that the Philippine entries would make it to the five semi-finalists, which will then vie for a spot in the final competition, tentatively planned for Dubai.

Judging Criteria and Global Recognition

The competition’s judging criteria include factors such as originality, taste profile, presentation, number of burgers sold, and social media engagement. Peck revealed that they have already sent the recipes, videos, and other required documents for the Philippine entries to Hard Rock Café’s international headquarters.

The World Burger Tour’s top three winners will have the chance to join Hard Rock Café’s core and à la carte menus. This inclusion offers them significant global exposure and recognition. The Philippines is entering the competition for the first time, generating excitement and anticipation. There is keen interest in how these Filipino-inspired burgers will perform on the international stage.
