Alexis Monsanto Promotes Filipino Unity at Los Angeles Fashion Week

Alexis Monsanto

Veteran Filipino designer Alexis Monsanto returned to the runway at the annual Los Angeles Fashion Week, powered by Art Hearts Fashion. Known for his bold and vibrant designs, Monsanto’s latest collection was a colorful celebration of Filipino pride, infused with elements that have defined his work over the years.

“I’m showing my nights’ out-inspired collection with vibrant colors,” he explained. “It also has a feminine touch with ruffles and other delicate details.”

Headlining Art Hearts Fashion Week’s opening night, Alexis Monsanto expressed his hope that more Filipino designers would have the chance to shine on this prestigious stage. His runway show featured a variety of styles, from formal Philippine attire to eye-catching accessories.

One of the key collaborators at this year’s event was Noble Creations, a brand specializing in traditional Filipino formal wear. Designer Amiel Noble emphasized the importance of a platform like Los Angeles Fashion Week in promoting Filipino products to a global audience.

“It’s uniquely Filipino but also something we can present to the world,” Noble said. “Our products have a certain class and authenticity. Putting us on the mainstream stage helps us gain more recognition in the fashion industry.”

Monsanto sees his role as more than just a designer—he views it as an opportunity to mentor and uplift other Filipino designers, encouraging them to bring Philippine styles and talents to a wider audience. “It’s about time to be mentoring,” he said. “I want to be part of everyone’s journey as emerging designers. I’m showing them the new field they’re getting into.”

Collaborations and Beyond

Monsanto’s influence extends beyond Los Angeles Fashion Week. He mentioned that he’s working on several collaborative projects with Noble. Meanwhile, accessory designer Viktoria Mejia, Founder of Viktory a Minaudière, continues to captivate with her unique bag designs.

Together, Alexis Monsanto and his collaborators aim to showcase the distinctiveness of Filipino crafts, one look at a time. By fostering a sense of unity among Filipino designers, Monsanto hopes to create a lasting impact that will propel Philippine fashion into the international spotlight.
