NLEX Corp. to Invest P9 Billion for C-5 Link and Road Widening Projects

NLEX Corp.

North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corp. has announced plans to invest nearly P9 billion in two significant projects: the construction of a direct access to C-5 Road and the widening of a key section of its tollway. This initiative aims to improve traffic flow and provide additional routes for motorists.

NLEX C-5 Link

NLEX Corp. president and general manager J. Luigi Bautista disclosed that the company is allocating P2.1 billion for the first phase of the NLEX C-5 Link, a 2-kilometer stretch connecting Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Avenue. The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved the project, and NLEX has secured the right of way, allowing construction to begin in the third quarter.

The initial segment will be elevated, with half constructed as a viaduct and the other half as a ramp. The project is expected to be completed by 2025, providing an alternative route for motorists traveling on Mindanao Avenue, one of the busiest roads in Quezon City.

In addition to the C-5 Link, NLEX plans to invest P6.5 billion to widen the road between San Fernando, Pampanga, and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). This project aims to add one lane in each direction to alleviate traffic congestion in the San Fernando section of NLEX. Pending TRB approval, the expansion will also include the construction of a full interchange in Mexico, Pampanga, and the installation of street lights along the stretch to improve safety.

The full interchange in Mexico is design to provide a more direct route for travelers heading to the western provinces in Central Luzon, such as Bataan and Zambales, eliminating the need to travel through the Olongapo-Gapan Road.

Furthermore, NLEX will assist the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in building an interchange in Sto. Tomas, Pampanga. DPWH will manage the civil works, while NLEX will oversee traffic management.

Other Infrastructure Improvements

NLEX plans to complete the third bridge of the Candaba Viaduct by year’s end. This additional bridge will provide another route for motorists traveling through the Bulacan and Pampanga sections of the tollway, easing traffic flow and enhancing connectivity in the region.

These projects reflect NLEX Corp.’s commitment to addressing traffic congestion and improving infrastructure in key areas.

With these investments, NLEX aims to enhance the travel experience for motorists, reduce traffic congestion, and provide safer and more efficient routes for all road users.
