Cebu locals and tourists alike can now explore the South Road Properties (SRP) for free on a modern, clean, and air-conditioned shuttle bus from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

This initiative, under the influence of Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI) through City di Mare, aims to make commuting easier and more accessible in the area.

Overview of CDM Free Rides

City di Mare Free Rides

The City di Mare (CDM) free rides initiative, spearheaded by Filinvest Land Inc., offers complimentary shuttle bus services to and from various points in the South Road Properties (SRP). This service runs daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., providing a modern, clean, and air-conditioned transportation option for both residents and tourists.

The free rides address the lack of public transportation in some parts of SRP, encouraging more people to explore the area towards Il Corso Filinvest Mall. The CDM Free Rides started on March 20, 2024.

Routes and Accessibility

Currently, there are three shuttle buses, each easily identifiable by their distinct colors—pink, blue, and green.

  • Pink Bus: The pink bus travels from Il Corso to Talisay, passing by R&M Auto Repair Shop and returning via CEIVADI Warehouse, VH Garces, and back. This route has the most passengers.

  • Blue Bus: The blue bus route goes from Il Corso to F. Vestil and N. Bacalso, with the return trip passing through F. Vestil, L. Gabuya, C. Padilla, Magallanes, Aduana, the Cebu South Coastal Road, and back. This route is the second most popular.

  • Green Bus: The green bus travels from Il Corso to F. Vestil, N. Bacalso, F. Llamas, Katipunan, R. Duterte, V. Rama, and the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu in Guadalupe and back. This route has the third most passengers.

These routes were chosen to cover highly populated barangays that require more public transportation. The buses depart from Il Corso to each of the routes every two hours, ensuring regular and timely service.

Additionally, passengers can wait at the CDM bus terminal while waiting for the shuttle to get full. The shuttle waits at the bus stop for the passengers for 15 minutes.

Benefits for the Community

The free shuttle bus service offers numerous benefits to the community:

  • Improved Mobility: By providing free transportation, residents and tourists can easily access various establishments, including malls, hotels, condominiums, restaurants, and a food park within SRP.

  • Support for Employees: The shuttle buses serve not only the general public but also employees working in the SRP. This makes commuting more convenient and less costly.

  • Reduced Traffic Congestion: The availability of free shuttle buses helps reduce traffic congestion in densely populated barangays by providing an efficient alternative to private vehicles.

  • Enhanced Tourism: The free rides encourage tourists to explore more of SRP, boosting local businesses and promoting economic growth in the area.

With the introduction of these free shuttle services, City di Mare and Filinvest Land Inc. aim to foster a sense of community and connectivity. The service not only promotes the exploration of SRP’s diverse attractions but also supports the local economy. It makes it easier for people to visit and patronize businesses in the area.

Future Plans

This initiative is still in the first phase; they are planning to add more shuttles and additional routes for the second phase. Filinvest Land Inc. is committed to continually improving transportation and accessibility within SRP. Plans for expanding the shuttle bus service and adding more routes are being considered to further enhance the commuting experience for residents and visitors alike.

The City di Mare free rides initiative represents a significant step towards a more connected and accessible SRP. This benefits the community and contributes to the area’s growth and development.
