Cebu Connect will streamline airport transfers at MCIA, greatly enhancing passenger experience. This initiative aims to reduce layover times and position Cebu as a premier gateway for tourists.

Cebu Connect aims to position MCIA as a world-class tourism and transfer gateway in the Philippines by:

  • Enhancing customer experience through an efficient transfer system.
  • Reducing connecting time for passengers.
  • Achieving benchmark status for transfer systems in the Philippines.

AGMCAC’s commitment to improving passenger experience is evident with the launch of Cebu Connect, which is meticulously designed to facilitate smooth airport transfers within MCIA. This new system significantly reduces layover time and maximizes comfort and convenience for travelers.

Cebu Connect will bolster tourism in the Philippines by establishing Cebu as a prime entry point for both domestic and international tourists. Cebu’s strategic location in the heart of the Philippines provides easy access to numerous breathtaking destinations such as Siargao, Camiguin, Bohol, Boracay, and Palawan, all within a short flight from Cebu.

“Cebu Connect aims to cut layover time from an hour to 30 minutes or less, giving both domestic and international passengers more freedom to travel to their destination. This is part of MCIA’s commitment to meeting global standards in airport operations,” said AGMCAC Chief Executive Officer Athanasios Titonis.

AGMCAC has collaborated with various government counterparts, including the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority, Bureau of Customs, and Bureau of Immigration, to ensure the necessary resources and systems are in place. Enhanced X-ray scanners, multiple counters, and a team of well-trained security and airport staff ensure passengers experience safe and expedited transfers between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Benefits of Cebu Connect for Cebuanos and Filipinos

Implementing Cebu Connect at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is crucial for several reasons, especially benefiting Filipinos, particularly Cebuanos, in the following ways:

  1. Enhanced Travel Efficiency: Cebu Connect aims to streamline airport transfers, reducing layover times from an hour to 30 minutes or less. This efficiency is beneficial for travelers, including Cebuanos, who often use MCIA for domestic and international flights. Shorter layovers mean less waiting time and more efficient travel experiences.
  2. Improved Tourism Potential: By positioning MCIA as a world-class tourism and transfer gateway, Cebu Connect helps boost tourism in Cebu and the Philippines. Cebu’s central location offers easy access to various tourist destinations like Siargao, Camiguin, Bohol, Boracay, and Palawan. This accessibility benefits Cebuanos by potentially increasing tourism-related business opportunities and promoting local culture and heritage.
  3. Economic Impact: Efficient airport operations attract more airlines and passengers, contributing to economic growth in Cebu. This growth can lead to job creation, infrastructure development, and improved livelihoods for Cebuanos working in the tourism, hospitality, and related sectors.
  4. Convenience and Comfort: For Cebuanos traveling for business, leisure, or visiting family and friends, Cebu Connect offers convenience and comfort through smoother airport processes. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with time-sensitive travel needs, ensuring they can reach their destinations quickly and efficiently.
  5. Global Standards and Recognition: Implementing Cebu Connect aims to achieve benchmark status for transfer systems in the Philippines. This not only elevates MCIA’s reputation on the global stage but also instills pride among Cebuanos in having a world-class airport that meets international standards.

In summary, Cebu Connect’s implementation at MCIA is significant for Cebuanos as it enhances travel efficiency, promotes tourism, supports economic growth, improves passenger convenience, and aligns with global standards, ultimately contributing to a better overall travel experience for Filipinos and visitors alike.

Meeting the Needs of Modern Travelers

“Travel has become more challenging today than it was years ago. To ease the journey for passengers, we decided to simplify transfers, especially for frequent flyers, families with small children, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and individuals on medical or business trips where time is crucial,” added Titonis.

Furthermore, Cebu Connect represents MCIA’s dedication to providing world-class service and establishing Cebu as a central hub for tourism in the Philippines, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable travel experience for all passengers.
