Visual Artist Rachel Duenas to Showcase Her Works at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris

Rachel Duenas
Filipina visual artist and tea sommelier Rachel Duenas is set to make her international debut at the prestigious Louvre in Paris.

She is among the selected Filipino artists who will showcase their works at the Carrousel du Louvre, an esteemed art event known for its vibrant blend of emerging talents and seasoned collectors. This event is scheduled to take place from October 18 to 20, 2024.

An Invitation to the Louvre

Rachel Duenas

Rachel’s journey to Paris began with a chance encounter at last year’s Paris Fashion Week, where she conducted tea meditations backstage. There, she met Philippine ambassador Junever Mahilum-West and her delegation. Impressed by her art, they endorsed her to the organizers of the Louvre’s show, opening a significant door of opportunity for Rachel.

The Carrousel du Louvre is more than just an underground mall beneath the iconic museum. Twice a year, collectors and gallerists gather for an art festival where emerging artists from around the world showcase their work. Under the guidance of Mr. Dhon dela Paz of Kwadro Pintura, an advocate for bringing Filipino artists to the international art scene, Rachel will grace the gallery among other global talents.

A Tropical Homage

Rachel’s work strikes a balance between abstract and impressionism, often compared to Monet’s style. Her brushstrokes bring a sense of relaxation and joy to her pieces. Art critic Cid Reyes described her work as “seeming naive in execution, but quietly expressive”. At the Carrousel du Louvre, she will pay homage to her homeland through artistic renditions that depict the warmth and beauty of the tropical paradise that is the Philippines.

“I want the Parisian audience to see the beauty of art inspired by the tropical flora and fauna of the Philippines, expressed in a distinct impressionist style,” Rachel said.

Captivating Audiences from Local to Global

Rachel’s artistic journey marks the beginning of a blossoming career. Her international debut will unveil a rising artist poised to bring a refreshing new dimension to the art world. Before her trip to Paris, she will host her fourth solo exhibit and final show in the Philippines at Chef Jessie Rockwell Club in Makati. The exhibit will open on September 7, 2024, with her artworks on display until September 30, 2024.

Aside from the “Carrousel du Louvre,” she will also grace the Kwadro Pintura Gallery from October 19 to 20, 2024.

Rachel Duenas’ participation in the Carrousel du Louvre represents a significant milestone for her career and a proud moment for the Filipino art community. Her works promise to captivate the Parisian audience and offer a unique glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of the Philippines.
