The Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) has achieved remarkable success in two esteemed European music competitions, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication on an international stage.

MSJO’s European Music Competition Triumphs

On Thursday, July 4, MSJO clinched the Gold Prize at the Bratislava International Music Festival in Slovakia, earning an outstanding score of 99 points. This accolade also included the prestigious Grand Prix, an exclusive recognition reserved for top-performing orchestras.

Continuing their triumphant journey, MSJO claimed First Place with Outstanding Success in the String Orchestra Category at the 2024 Summa Cum Laude International Music Festival. Held at Vienna’s illustrious Golden Hall of the Musikverein on Sunday, July 7, this festival drew over 2000 participants from 14 countries and featured 38 distinct ensembles.

Competing against a diverse array of talented young musicians from around the world, MSJO demonstrated exceptional musicality and cohesion under the leadership of conductor Jeffrey Solares. Supported by trainers Sara Maria Gonzales and Arnold Josue, the orchestra’s performance stood out among their peers, showcasing their rigorous training and commitment to musical excellence.

MSJO’s European Concert Tour and Achievements

Embarking on their European Concert Tour starting June 29, MSJO continues to captivate audiences with upcoming performances at Vienna’s prestigious MuTh Theater on July 8 and the highly anticipated Winner’s Concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus on July 9. Their tour culminates with a showcase at Prague’s historic Smetana Hall on July 11, before returning triumphantly to the Philippines on July 13.

Furthermore, founded as a youth orchestra program of the Manila Symphony Orchestra Foundation, Inc., MSJO comprises the most talented students from the MSO Music Academy and other qualified young musicians aged 9 to 18. Guided by Prof. Solares, the orchestra exemplifies the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing musical talent and fostering cultural exchange through music.

In conclusion, the achievements of Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra in these prestigious competitions underscore their exceptional musical prowess and commitment to artistic excellence.
