One need not go far to see festivals or masquerades in other countries as “The City of Smiles,” Bacolod, gears up for another weekend celebration for their annual Masskara Festival.
The festival is a visual treat of locals garbed in elaborate and ingenious costumes, fabrics of cheerful colors and patterns, shiny sequins, and gigantic headgear. But the most iconic is the mask worn by participants. These are always adorned with smiling faces that have become the trademark for the celebration.
