I scream, you scream, everybody screams for ice cream! Gelato is a favorite dessert treat for many people around the globe. In the years before air conditioning could be taken for granted, it was not just a tasty treat. It was a cold tasty treat that everyone’s looking for during hot weather.
Last November 18, 2016, Gelatissimo Philippines, a famous dessert shop, celebrated their 8th birthday while sharing sweet smiles on every cup at SM City Cebu. The chain had prepared a promo wherein a cup of gelato was only P 88 pesos for that day.
For their anniversary, they prepared 2 games; the Roll the Dice and Pick N Win.
Joemar Torres, a gelato maker for 9 months, discussed that if a customer purchased over P 300 above worth of gelato, they would receive 3 tokens for them to avail the games.
According to Torres, the “Roll the Dice” box has 6 sides, including Free Toppings, Bambino Cones, a mini gelato coated with chocolate, and Try Again, while in the Pick N Win game, they would pick one card and have a chance to win one scoop of gelato of their selected flavor.
Torres said that in preparation for the celebration, they have decorated their area with balloons, the word “Happy Birthday”, and banderitas.
He explained that they don’t overdecorate the SM branch because it is too small as compared to the stores in Ayala Center and Streetscape in Banilad. He said that they wanted it to appear it to be simple. He also mentioned that they prepared caps so that they would look attractive to the customers and so that they can tell that they were celebrating their birthday.
Two weeks before their 8th anniversary, they have placed signages and told the customers about the promo.
They have also promoted their promo through social media including Facebook and Instagram.
Gelatissimo Philippines has a lot of flavored gelatos to choose from including Lemon Cheesecake, Vanilla, Green Tea, Lime, Crème Caramel, Burnt Caramel and Pecan, Choc Chip and Tiramisu. Their flavor of the month, “Spongebob,” is a vanilla flavored gelato with candy toppings.
Torres mentioned that their best-selling flavor is chocolate, including flavors of Cookies and Cream, Choc Chip, and Chocolate Truffle, while their fruit-flavored gelatos were mostly preferred by foreign customers.
We asked Harvey Chua, a customer, about his feedback on the gelato chain. “Best! It has the real taste of an Italian ice cream,” he proudly said.
Gelatissimo also offers beverages including Espresso, Café Americano, Café Latte, Hot Chocolate and Tea. They have 3 stores in Cebu; one in Streetscape in Maria Luisa Village, Banilad, one in Ayala Center Cebu, and Ctr. 102, Upper Ground Level, SM Northwing and Ctr 106, Upper Ground Level in SM City Cebu.
Go indulge and savor the best and the real taste of Italiathanks to Gelatissimo Philippines!
