Fall in laughter if not in love: A Funny Valentine Concert

It’s that time of the year again when the demand for flowers, chocolates, enormous teddy bears and dinner reservations goes soaring. Sappy love songs played all month long in the radio, cut out paper hearts being hanged in every corner. And it appears that you always see a lot of happy lovey dovey couples almost everywhere.
While some hearts come flying, some are breaking. Dreading the fateful day to be reminded of being SINGLE, NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP, HASHTAG FOREVER ALONE. Need I say more?

Unfortunately for the bitter, Valentine’s Day is inevitable. It’s already marked red in the calendar.  I’m sorry to break it to you darling, but you just can’t skip it or remove the freakin’ date entirely. Rather, you can just choose to ignore. “Move on, move on pag may time”
However there are actually ways to turn around the bitter mood to a different light. Here are some tips to endure Valentine’s Day:

1.) #SQUADGOALS OVER #RELATIONSHIPGOALS

Facebook, Instagram and everywhere on social media; Instead of focusing on that non-existent relationship goal you’re too fond of sharing, why don’t you look for inspiration or ways to level up your fun with the gang? Don’t get too caught up with the idea of what a perfect relationship is or what a relationship should be. There is no such thing as perfect in this world, and that goes the same with relationships.

2.) SINGLES UNITE!

Whether it’s a wild party with your ladies or plainly life talks over coffee, it’s always worthwhile to share the same sentiments with your friends. Enduring the day is less painful when you don’t have to feel pressured of not being in a relationship. Just remember, exclusive for single friends only at least for a day.

3.) TRICK OR TREAT

Desperate time calls for desperate measures. Don’t get tricked too much on those “Hokage moves” or “Pick-up Lines”. Some people may already be desperate to get a date for the season and you might feel the urgency to have someone to celebrate it with too. But stop yourself. I beg you please don’t fall for the trick! Building a relationship takes time. It doesn’t happen because you feel the NEED for it. Love is not seasonal. You have to WANT it. So relax, treat yourself instead. You deserve it. Nothing wrong with that. It’s not self pity but it’s valuing yourself. What’s pitiful is being tricked into a wrong relationship.

4.) FILL YOUR FRIDGE WITH ICE CREAM AND CHOCOLATES

For nights that you can’t help but emote especially if you’ve geared on a Nicholas Sparks movie marathon. It’s okay to cry, pour it out, but don’t let yourself cry to sleep. A tub of ice cream or a few bars of chocolates should help you feel better. According to Professor Andrew Prentice, of the Medical Research Council’s International Nutrition Group: “Chocolate triggers the brain to release endorphins – hormones that cause your pulse to speed up and give you a pleasant high feeling, rather like being in love.”
Hence, you’ll feel like you’re in love even if you’re really not in a relationship.

5.) SKIP ALL THE ROUTINES

Deviate from the usual trend. Skip all the flowers, chocolates and candle lit dinners over love ballads to something that will make your heart lighter at the end of the day.
Watch a comedy concert with the country’s top comedians. Enjoy a night of “Hugot Lines”, witty spoofs, laughter and great music that will send you flying to the roofs!
